You might consider feiertagskalender.ch as well. This lets you get even local public holidays in ical format, to integrate into iCal, Sunbird (or with some hiccups) Outlook.

I thought Baden-Wuerttemberg was the county with most public holidays (protestant & catholic), but browsing the 2006 overview yesterday (to finally take advantage of the Brueckentage
), I realised we don’t even get Rosenmontag off. 
Nevertheless, I fear they cut holidays short, but don’t ask me which they took.
